Dr. Phuong-Thao (Alex) Nguyen is Chief of Staff of Hypatia. She is responsible for managing strategic initiatives for the Executive Team and leads Hypatia’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs. She is also Chief Diversity & Health Equity Officer of BENTO, a subsidiary of Hypatia Group, Inc.

As a DEI expert, Alex has helped shape national DEI initiatives and policies, including University of Miami’s Physical Therapy Work Group to Address Racism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)’s Plan to Model Principles of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion within the Student Assembly; and the Hypatia Playbook for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Clinical Trials. She has served on multiple DEI panels for governments, universities, and health organizations. She also co-founded Fortitude Educational Foundation, a non-profit on a mission to provide educational opportunities and disaster relief in underserved and underrepresented areas in Vietnam.
