NTIS is a Finalist for the ACT-IAC Ignite Innovation Award

Hypatia is pleased to announce that our Joint Venture Partner in Data Innovation, the National Technical Innovation Service (NTIS) of the U.S. Department of Commerce, has been named a finalist for the ACT-IAC Ignite Innovation Award. They are among the forty national Ignite Innovation finalists who are delivering innovation for the Federal government and the public. Their Federal Private Sector Partnership for data driven services has been highlighted as a unique business model for driving innovation through the power of partnerships.

The National Technical Information Service (NTIS) partnered with the private sector to deliver unprecedented expertise to address federal data challenges at market speed and agility. The unique NTIS Joint Venture Authority provides Federal agencies with a capacity to scale data driven innovation through the private sector. This authority operates outside the FAR to promote conversation between the Federal government and the private sector about the problem (not the solution) enabling agencies to begin work through agile development within ninety days of the problem definition. The NTIS operating model relies on ideation around problem definition that is inclusive, diverse, and engages stakeholders in managing the course of business transformation. "Contracting" for innovation to apply artificial Intelligence, machine learning and other data science capabilities is a challenge for the Federal government. The NTIS operating model based on a partnership, not a contracting process, enables a frictionless business model for innovation by accelerating problem definition, rapidly accessing private sector data science ingenuity, and significantly reducing time to delivery of results through agile development and stakeholder management.
